2026 Member Trip: San Juan 5/29-6/2

Original price was: $2,099.00.Current price is: $1,899.00.

This year, we are offering a second 2026 Member Trip on the San Juan River!

Join GCI on a Lower San Juan trip launching from Mexican Hat, UT on May 29th, 2026 with Ancient Wayves River and Hiking Adventures. Together, we will float 57 miles through high canyon walls and sweeping gooseneck turns before taking out at Clay Hills on June 2nd. Ancient Wayves is 100% Indigenous owned, with a team of guides and staff from different Indigenous backgrounds. What better way to explore this river than with knowledgable guides who are also connected to the region through ancestral heritage?

Over the course of GCI’s 5-day, 4-night trip, there will be plenty of opportunities for hiking, learning about the history of the region, and taking in spectacular geology, wildlife, and scenery. Towards the end of this stretch, the impact of Lake Powell reservoir on the San Juan River becomes clear as the river flows on top of excess deposited sediment, covering rapids with as much as 40 feet of sediment.

Joining this trip will be special guest Len Necefer, a proud member of the Navajo Nation which borders this stretch of the river. Len is the CEO and Founder of NativesOutdoors, a Native-owned athletic and creative collective. His work currently focuses on the intersection of sport, environmental advocacy, and Indigenous people and has been featured in the Alpinist, National Geographic, Outside Magazine, and over 50 film festivals globally. Len will bring to this trip a unique and important perspective, combining expertise on Tribal sovereignty, policymaking, and environmental advocacy with a deep understanding of the stories that rivers can tell.
