Synopsis:

A lost Eden emerges from beneath Lake Powell, revealing both the consequences of past mistakes and the potential for a new path forward for the Colorado River. What The River Knows explores this pivotal moment, where the urgent need to rethink water management in the West aligns with an opportunity to restore a stunning landscape and flooded ancestral homeland.

Amidst the grim discussions surrounding climate change and the Colorado River crisis, the film tells a powerful story of nature’s resilience: Glen Canyon is coming back to life.

Event Preparation

1. Decide that you want to host an event!
2. Reach out to GCI
   • We will share with you a screening agreement and link to download the film in a format that works for you.
   • If you would like help with organizing and promotion, we can make a plan for that as well.

3. Timing
   • Give yourself a few weeks to schedule, plan, promote, and execute your event.

   • Social media, email, and phone calls are great ways to spread the word.
   • Please use the images and language found on this page.
5. Post-Screening Discussion
   • We highly recommend planning a post-screening discussion, panel, or conversation.
   • Include a range of perspectives and brainstorm questions that tie together themes in the film with local issues.
   • GCI is available to provide support on film discussions. Please reach out!
6. The Event
   • Make sure you test your technology in advance of your screening.
   • GCI stickers, brochures, Hidden Passage journals, email newsletter signup sheets, and donation QR codes are available for your event upon request.
7. Supporting GCI
   • GCI is proud to be making this film available for free. We encourage a donation to the organization of $10 per attendee to allow us to help with these events, support the arts, and continue our work.
